She bravely faced death just as she lived her life. We are so proud of Bonnie!
Bonnie was born in Queens, NY and moved to RI in 1976. She spent a year at RISD. Over the next several decades she honed her skills in silkscreening and graphic design and ultimately walked away from the corporate world and created her baby, “GET “ magazine. As its founder, producer and creative director she was a tireless advocate for the LGBTQ community.
Bonnie was a true free spirit, she made friends wherever she traveled. She had numerous moves to San Francisco, but ultimately settled in Rhode Island. Her happy place was basking in the warm sand of Goosewing Beach. P Bonnie’s passion was music, and concerts especially The Greatful Dead, Hot Tuna and Pattie Smith. She managed to attend a Lucinda Williams concert 2 months before she died.
This past summer she happily fulfilled a life long dream of Para-sailing. The ultimate Gemini, she just wanted to be floating up in the air. And we imagine her floating there now, in her “invisible parallel universe”.
Her sister Debbie Rosengarten, brother Alan Simon and numerous loving cousins survive her.
In Bonnie’s memory, reach out to your good friends and hold them close.
A memorial gathering will be held at Cindy and Heather’s TBD to share stories and celebrate our quirky force of nature friend.
