Barbara "Betty" M. Coccia

Barbara was a manager with Verizon and the former New England Tel for many years retiring in 1994. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Chemawa Senior Golf Group, Wood Estates Senior Group, and a long time parishioner of Saints John and Paul Church. Betty was a proud matriarch of a multi-generational family of whom her life revolved around.

She was the beloved mother of Mary McArthur and her husband Stephen, Sr. of Coventry, RI with whom she resided, Joseph Coccia, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of North Port, FL, and Anthony Coccia, Sr. of Barrington, RI. She was the cherished grandmother of Stephen McArthur, Jr. (Briana), Shannon McArthur, Courtney McArthur, Ryan Coccia (Michelle), Melissa Tierney (late husband Jon), Joseph Coccia III (Catherine), Anthony Coccia, Jr. (Nicole), and Joseph Coccia, cherished great-grandmother of Aaron, Jacoby, Brady, Gennaro, Adrianna, Avery, Anthony III, Domenic, Kendall, Brady, Jameson and an expected great-grandchild soon to come, devoted sister to Robert Ridings and his partner Cindy and William Ridings and his wife Barbara, she also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Allyson McArthur and sister of the late John Ridings.

Her visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral Friday at 9:15 a.m. from Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Saints John and Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Graveside burial will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence. In lieu of flowers, HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 would be greatly appreciated.
