Sonja Branum Bowers, 59, of Prattville, AL departed her earthly life at home surrounded by family on August 9, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Sonja was an avid reader, she loved to sew, and was an active supporter in research for Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. She loved spending time and doing crafts with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Lynn Bowers; daughters, Lynda Shepard (Mike), Nancy Bowers, & Nikki Caldwell (Sam) and a son, John Bowers (Karen); grandchildren: Aaron Shepard, Sissy Moseley (Brandon), Ethan Bowers, Camden Bowers, Brianna Bowers, Shayla Bowers, Caroline Caldwell, Ralph Caldwell, & Sam Caldwell, Jr; great-grandchildren: Lane Moseley, Sadie Moseley, Ryder Bowers, & Desma Sandoval; sister, Lea Ann Clark (Todd) and brother, Don Branum (Dawna) of Spring, TX; nieces: Harley Ede (Sumner), Jessica Dominguez (Carlos), Juliann Dominguez; nephews: Tyler Branum (Megan) of Spring, TX, Ryan Branum (Lexie) of Spring, TX, Kai Branum of Lahaina, HI; great-nephews: Mason Dominguez, Mateo Guzman, and Carson Ede; adopted mother, Sunny Loveless and close relative, Michaele Brooks. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Burton; step-father, Chester Burton, & father, Ray Branum.
The family would like to extend gratitude and love to the nurses and care staff at Comfort Care Hospice and UAB O’Neal Cancer Center.
A private memorial service will be held by immediate family at a later date.
