George William Petty 60, of Prattville, passed away Tuesday November 15, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday November 19th at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with Pastor Greg Melvin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Prattville Memorial Gardens.
William was born June 15, 1956 in Crenshaw County to the late Clifton Petty and Madolyn Pruitt Petty. He was a U. S. Army veteran and had served in various postings including a tour of duty in Germany. William was enjoyed all kinds of sports and was an avid Alabama Football fan. He also enjoyed country cooking and collecting antiques, especially glassware. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his love for people, his quick wit and his willingness to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his longtime companion and caregiver, Charles Lovett of Prattville; a sister, Mila Flowers of LaPine; two brothers and a sister in law, Cecil Petty of LaPine, Lamar and Tammy Petty also of LaPine and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends. Pallbearers will be Kyle Cherry, Cyle Petty, Patrick Tyson, Casey Petty, Cory Petty and Josh Tompkins.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
