Mr. Joseph L. Wheeler, age 44 of Hannawa Falls, NY passed away very suddenly on December 30th at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6th at the Knapp Station Community Church with Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrant. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 1-4 pm with service immediately following. A luncheon will follow the service at the Norfolk Rod and Gun Club, Cemetery Road, Norfolk. Joe is survived by his son Alexander Wheeler of Hannawa Falls; his mother Mary Wheeler of Potsdam; sisters Pamela (Brian) Delosh and Barbara “Kady” (Aaron) Clothier of Parishville and Marcy (Duane “Toby”) Taylor of Potsdam; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Gary W. Wheeler.
Mr. Joseph L. Wheeler was born on July 4, 1973 in Potsdam, NY to Gary and Mary (Dixson) Wheeler. He was a 1991 graduate of Potsdam Central High School. He proudly served 4 years in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the north country that he loved. He was an all-around outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and riding his Harley Davidson. He enjoyed spending time with his whole family. He had a truly special bond with his son Alex. He taught him all of the outdoor activities that he himself loved. Joe was currently working as a technician at Corning. He had over 20 years of service.
He was a member of the Norfolk Rod and Gun Club and the Amvets in Colton.
