Calling hours for Gregory T. Freitag, 64, of Potsdam will be held from 4-6pm on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Garner Funeral Service, closing with “The Serenity Prayer”. Gregory passed away unexpectedly on Friday afternoon (October 18, 2019) at his home.
Greg is survived by the love of his life, teammate, and wife Jane, mother Erma Freitag of East Aurora, NY, son Evan Freitag of Buffalo, NY, daughter Erin Freitag of Schenectady, NY, step daughters Vanessa Kronyak of Ogdensburg, NY, and Gabrielle Kronyak of Albany, NY, a brother Gary (Lisa) Freitag of East Aurora, NY, a sister Debbie Killeen of Corralis, OR, a sister-in-law Susan Gustartis of Salem, MA and a brother-in-law Richard Kieley of Hampstead, NH, grandchildren Avery and Aubrey Love of Ogdensburg, plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Greg was born on April 14, 1955, in Buffalo, NY to Erma (Witnauer) Freitag and the late Thomas Freitag. He lived in Buffalo until his teenage years, when the family moved to Liverpool. He graduated from high school, then moved to Potsdam where he attended Potsdam State. During his career in information technology networking, he worked for Creg Systems, DeFelsko, the Wild Center and most recently NCC Systems, from where he had retired in September.
Some of his hobbies included woodworking, spending time at his camp on Blake Reservoir, being on his computer, vacationing in Maine, doing jigsaw puzzles, rooting for the Buffalo Bills, spending time with his family and dog Ruby, and mainly loving his wife Jane, who he would say rocked his world. Greg loved music, he did sound for bands and previously worked in a recording studio. Greg was intelligent, honest, supportive, selfless, passionate about his beliefs and liked to laugh with people he was close to.
