A graveside service will be held for Gerald “Buck” A. Wood, 87, formerly of Potsdam and Parishville, on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 11:00am with Rev. Stephen Rocker officiating. Buck passed away Thursday night (August 13, 2020) with his family by his side.
Gerald was born June 19, 1933 to the late Leon and Blanche (McMannis) Wood in Pierrepont, NY. He attended Sissonville and Potsdam schools. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. On December 22, 1957 he married Connie H. Mallory in Jacksonville, FL.
Buck started his career as an Ironworker with the Ironworkers Local 440 and had the opportunity to live and travel throughout the country. In 1969 they moved to Morley where he owned and operated a dairy farm and later owned and operated Maple’s Tavern for 3 years. After retiring in 1995, he and his wife spent their winters in Florida and their summers in Parishville. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with friends and family, and taking care of his horses.
Gerry is survived by a brother Leon (Marlene) Wood of Norfolk, a special niece Debra Michaud, nephews Jason and Joseph Wood, a daughter Julie Farley of Arkansas, grandsons Josh and Jake Collins and Joey Farley, 2 great-grandchildren as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Buck was predeceased by his brothers Michael, William, James, and Gilbert as well as sisters Bernice and Gloria.
