Yvonne Jean Roach was born on January 21, 1935, and passed away on July 31, 2024. She was 89 years old. Yvonne was born on a farm in rural Multnomah County, the first of four children of William and Roberta Krueger. Three younger brothers, Gary, Dale, And Jim would follow. She is survived by her daughter Cindy and brother Jim. Her husband Sherman preceded her in death.
Growing up on the farm, Yvonne loved her pets and animals. Her favorite was her horse "Sparky". She would ride him daily around the farm and beyond no matter the weather.
At the age of nineteen Yvonne married Sherman Roach. Sherman was a career military man so Yvonne would accompany him on his posts throughout the country including Arkansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina. When Sherman was stationed overseas, Yvonne would come home and live at the farm again. In the early 1960's they bought some land on Rock Creek Rd. and started building their home. It was to be her home for the rest of her life.
It was about that time when Yvonne started raising Nubian goats. They would become the passion of her life. She took great pride in them and became known for raising top-quality dairy goats. Summertime meant county and state fairs with the goats and nieces and nephews she invited to come along.
In her senior years, Yvonne was adamant about remaining in her beloved home. With her health failing the last couple of years of her life, others encouraged her to move to assisted living but she wouldn't be persuaded. She cherished her independence. Some would say she was stubborn but it meant everything to her to live out her life in her home. Her final wish was fulfilled, she died peacefully at her home on the last day of July. She is survived by her daughter Cindy, brother Jim, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends she has made in her lifetime, all who will miss her greatly.
