Sophie Frances Welcer

Sophie Welcer , 88, of Portland, Oregon, passed away July 15, 2021. She was born in Sublette, Wyoming on 2/25/1933. Sophie graduated from St Mary’s Academy. She was married to John Welcer on June 14, 1954.

Sophie had a career in Telecommunications & hospitality for AT&T, US West, and Aramark.

She was an active Union member in both of her workplaces, and had a passion for Crocheting, gardening, World Travel, and See’s chocolate.

She was survived by her children, Monica, Andy, and Bill; grandchildren, Kristina, Marguerite, Johanna Jillian, Annie, Christine, Molly Jo, Alexander, Mike, Riley, Lisa; 14 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jim and Dan Rom.

Funeral arrangements will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 2727 NE 54th Ave, Portland, OR 97213. The rosary will be at 10:00am and funeral service at 10:30am.
