Robert Grayson O’Brien passed away on Saturday Dec 2, 2023 in the presence of family. He was born in Tacoma, Washington and raised in Portland, Oregon and Los Angeles, California. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Donald O’Brien.
In 1959 Robert received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from OSU in Corvallis, Oregon. He later earned his Master of Science in Engineering from WSU in Pullman, Washington. He had an active career working as an engineer in Germany, Washington D.C. area and the State of Washington.. While working for the US Army Corps of Engineers he was honored with several awards including: Engineer of the Year, Federal Energy Efficiency Award, Special Energy Conservation Award and the Decoration for Meritorious Civilian Service.
His hobbies and interests included playing many sports while attending school, being an avid beagle lover, photography, studying and betting on horses.
He is survived by his wife Christel, his sister Audrey Loggia, his children: Robert O’Brien, Tamara Goldstein, Deborah Meyer, Daniel O’Brien, Uta Pinstock O’Brien, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Services will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. January 20, 2024 at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon. A reception will follow from 1:00-3:00. May he rest in Peace..
