Robert S. Baker was born September 26, 1954, in Portland, Ore. to Robert and Hermina Baker. He was raised in California, where he learned the value of hard work, putting in long hours on the farm. Robert move back to Oregon, and met Jayne Cotten through his sister. After a thrilling courtship, involving cars, daring high-speed chases, and general shenanigans, the couple married on November 5, 1976, in Portland.
Robert worked as a service technician for Coca Cola.
Robert enjoyed fishing, and his grandchildren. Through many outdoor adventures together, he got the grandchildren hooked on fishing, and was successfully able to “marry” his two great passions.
Robert passed away in his home on July 27, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2023, in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jayne; daughter, Sara Cotten; daughter-in-law, Amber Evans; brother, Alvin Baker; grandchildren, John, Cyrus, William, and Jaydan; great-grandchildren, Landon and Aaliyah; several nephews; and many friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hermina; sister, Twyla; and daughter, Christine.
Robert will be remembered as a man who was one-of-a-kind. He was honest, and became an exemplary role model for the young men in the family. He was known to have no filter, and would always tell it directly how it was, forever “keeping it real.”
