Richard D. "Dick" Hall passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at his Portland home surrounded by his family. Dick was born in Sheyenne, North Dakota to Ralph and Dorothea Hall in 1933. He moved to Portland with his family when he was a child. They resided in Vanport, where they lived through the 1948 flood that destroyed the area. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1952, Dick joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea until 1955. On July 12, 1957, Dick married the love of his life, Patricia Wilson. They made their home in the St. Johns area. He worked as a manager for Linnton Plywood for 35 years. Dick was active in the American Legion, and was named a Golden Legionnaire and to its prestigious The Forty and Eight organization. Dick is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Richard Hill of Portland; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Mindi Hall of Portland; grandchildren, Ahna, Ali, Brad, Nate, Kyle and Jamie; and great-grandson, Grayson. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011, in Skyline Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will follow at American Legion Post 14, 4607 N.E. Saint James Road in Vancouver. Arrangements under the direction of Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Portland, OR.
