Fondly known as "Bubba", Rayford Young was born in Detroit, Texas to parents Herbert and Mae Susie (Turner) Young on April 25, 1934. He attended Martin Shiloh School, and in his early years, he enjoyed playing basketball. In later years, he also liked to go fishing. He was employed at Allied Plating and Victor where he worked was a welder prior to retiring.
Bubba was quiet and reserved but loved people. He especially had a heart for children and acted as a father to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Mae Susie Young; brothers: William Young, Coy Young, and Billy Young: sisters: Arleaver Richardson, Jo Ruth Boyce, and Mae Ruth Huff (twins);
son: Duane Young; and daughter, Elaine Young.
He is survived by his sons : Darrell Young, of Denver, Colorado, Andre Young, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Matthew Calvin, of Portland, Oregon; daughters: Gwen Young of Denver, Colorado, and Paige Ednamae of Portland, Oregon; brothers: Wayford Young, of Abilene, Texas (his twin brother), and Leslie Young of Portland, Oregon; sisters: Monyne Asberry, of Portland, Oregon (husband Green), Eloise Watkins, of Abilene, Texas, and Robbie Senteno, of Portland, Oregon; 8 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service followed by a burial ceremony will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR, on Friday, February 17th, 2017, at 12 noon. Rayford will be laid to rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens in the garden of the Last Supper.
