Nellie H. Hunt, a beloved member of the Milwaukie community, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on May 31, 1927, in Portland, Oregon, Nellie was raised in Milwaukie, where she graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1945.
On January 11, 1946, Nellie married Howard M. Hunt, the love of her life. Together, they built a life filled with love and dedication to family and community. Nellie was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her nurturing spirit and unwavering support.
Nellie worked as an aide at Ardenwald Elementary School for many years, where she was fondly remembered by students for her kindness and dedication. Her impact on the children was profound, and many still recall their fond memories of "Mrs. Hunt" with affection.
A passionate gardener, Nellie was a long-standing member of the local Garden Club, where she earned multiple ribbons for her exceptional gardening skills. Her green thumb was evident in her beautifully cultivated yard, which was a testament to her love for plants and flowers. In addition to gardening, Nellie enjoyed crocheting and ceramics, hobbies that showcased her creativity and attention to detail.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Lucks; her husband, Howard; her daughter; a grandson; seven sisters; and four brothers. She is survived by her son, one granddaughter, four grandsons, four great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, three great-great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nellie H. Hunt will be remembered for her strength, love, and the lasting legacy she leaves behind in her family and community. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
