Mary “Maggie” Kennedy died on March 4, 2011 at OHSU Hospital after a two year battle with cancer. She was born in Portland to Frank and Mary Kennedy. She attended St. Ignatius Grade School, St. Mary’s High School, and graduated from Franklin High School in 1964. In 1968, she graduated from Seattle University and later obtained masters degrees in journalism and business from the University of Oregon.
Mary worked as an educational analyst for Northwest Regional Laboratory in Portland, the Council for Educational Development & Research in Denver and Washington, DC and for the Career Information System at the University of Oregon.
Beginning in 1981, she started her career at OHSU as a system project manager going on to hold various administrative directorships. From 1989 to 1995, she served as Associate Vice-president of University Material Management. Mary first retired from OHSU in 2003, then worked part-time, fully retiring in 2010.
She was highly regarded and respected by her friends and by OHSU colleagues. Mary was a kind, giving person; her willingness to assist others far surpassed everyone’s expectations. She had many friends who will remember her compassion and strength of character to make the world a better place.
Mary traveled extensively, enjoyed gardening, her beach house, walking and hiking, her cats and caring for other people.

She is survived by her sister Patricia Kennedy of Lincoln, Nebraska and her nephew , Blake Kincaid, his wife Sarah, and her great-nephew Finnegan Kincaid all of Clatskanie and by many friends and loved ones..
Arrangements were made by Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Portland..
