Laura Yvonne Helm, 86, of Portland, Oregon, passed away January 30, 2023. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on January 2, 1937 to Mary Ann (Heinlein) and Ora Helm.
Also known as, Mom, Yvonne was a cook at one of Portland’s oldest restaurant, the Fish Grotto. Despite her dislike of cooking for work, outside of the Fish Grotto, she loved cooking especially with her son, Ron. Yvonne and Ron's favorite thing to cook together was creole sauce and shrimp creole.
Yvonne was also a passionate fisher, deep sea, and sports fishing making her a great fishing partner. However, you could also find her spending some downtime on her motorcycle. She also loved to travel and one of her favorite trips was to Japan.
She treasured her friends, family, and grandpuppies. She took care of her mother for as long as she could, spent as much time with her son, Ron Helm and her brother, James Helm who have both survived her and spoke lively of those who had come into her life. Laura Yvonne Helm was surpassed by her brother and fishing buggy, Everett Helm.
