Justin Ray Ross, 42, of Portland passed away Sunday November 12th, 2023, due to complications from lung cancer. He was born Sunday, January 25, 1981 in Portland, OR. Son of Jeff Ross and Linda Clay, Justin grew up in Vancouver, WA attended Prairie High School and in his last two years of high school enrolled in the Running Start program at Clark Community College.
During his life, Justin had an assortment of jobs including working at UPS while in college, later at Woodfeathers Roofing Supply as a roof loader and spent a summer working at a fish processing plant in Alaska. It wasn’t too long until Justin found his niche and began his career working in the mortgage industry holding multiple positions including Loan Processor, Jr. Underwriter, Transaction Coordinator and Production Manager. Because of the time and dedication, he poured into his work Justin accomplished the honor of being a team member of the “Million Dollar Club” for many years.
Although never married, Justin was lovingly devoted to his girlfriend Tara since the early spring of 2014. They met at a mutual friend’s wedding and although Justin pressured this friend to introduce him to her, she said No! But their fates aligned, when Tara and Justin found each other, fell deeply in love and enjoyed nearly a 10-year span together with lots of love, laughter and plenty of adventures! And this union led Justin to achieving his ultimate goal of being a girl dad when Tara gave birth to Eleanor Raine Ross the day after his birthday this past year.
Justin was an avid fan of basketball (Go Blazers!), reading, writing, camping, playing musical instruments, going to concerts and playing video games. In his later years, Justin found joy in gardening, live theater, traveling, and gourmet cooking. Not to mention the occasional fancy wine tastings too!
Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents Cecil Carathers, and Stan and Esther Ross. He is survived by his partner Tara Minassian and daughter Eleanor Raine Ross, his grandmother Aimee Carathers, parents Linda Clay and Jeff Ross, stepfather Steve Clay and stepmother Cindy Ross. His siblings Kristen Olson, Micayla Ross and brother-in-law Kyal Olson. Along with nephews: Kase, Koen, Konner, Kaleb, Kruz, Kamari and niece Raelee. Uncles Jerry Carathers, Rick Ross, Ron Ross and Aunt Joye Ross. And many cousins. Finally, his cat Beatrix Kiddo,
Justin’s Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Saturday, January 6, at 2:00 PM in the Mt. Hood Pavilion Room at Candy Grove Christian Center. 7501 S Knights Bridge Rd., Candy, OR 97013.
