Julia “Judy” (Wilcox) Karush, age 85, of Portland,OR peacefully passed away February 25, 2024. Judy was born on February 3, 1939 in Snyder, Texas and grew up in Wasco, CA. She attended UCLA and earned a bachelor’s degree in Education. She married Arnold “Arnie” Karush and was blessed with two daughters Sheri (Karush) Lautenbach and Teri (Karush) Rogers. Judy moved to Portland in 1977 where she dedicated many years as the Office Manager for Oregon Special Olympics.
An avid bridge player, Judy found joy and lasting friendships at the card table, achieving the prestigious rank of Life Master. In retirement she began teaching bridge which led her to the love of her later years, Cyril “Cy” Green. Together they shared a life full of love, companionship, traveling, playing bridge and spending time with family until Cy’s passing in 2020.
Judy’s warmth, wisdom and zest for life will forever live in the memories of those who knew her.
Judy’s legacy is carried on by her daughters Sheri of Portland, OR and Teri of Westport, CT, their husbands (Dan and Stuart), her adored granddaughters (Jessica, Hannah and Sophie), 2 sons-in-law (Chris and Daniel) and her beloved great-grandson Wesley.
A private burial will be held with family at Skyline Memorial Cemetery in Portland.
