She was a loving and caring Christian woman. Life to Jan was her loving family, and music. She played and taught both piano and pipe organ beautifully. She sang as a member of Rogue Valley Chorale and Portland Symphonic Choir.
She graduated in Performance Music from Willamette University in 1956. She is survived by her loving husband L. Carter Boardman to whom she was married on Sept. 2 1956. One son Raun (Spider) Boardman, his wife, Mollie and two granddaughters; Karen and Kathryn; three brothers Darrell (Margeret), Gary (Taeja), and Loren (Heloise) Stafford; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Janice grew up in the Grants Pass area (Jerome Prairie). Graduated from Grants Pass HS in 1952. She was active in choir, typing for service organization and was and 'A' student. It was in choir that she met her future husband where he chased her until she caught him.
She was a teachers aide at North Medford HS in vocal music department for 20 years, where she accompanied choirs, coached students and did clerical work.
In her last few years she was in declining health. Jan spent her last years at Gateway Convalescent and recovery facility where she was greatly loved. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Memorial service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Parkrose United Methodist Church, 11111 N.E. Knott St., Portland, OR 97220
