The world lost a kind and gentle soul on April 5th, 2023 when James Yang passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. James will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will always remember him as a compassionate man of strong principles.
Born on November 27th, 1954 in Taipei, Taiwan, James was always a kind and thoughtful soul. He was known for his humility and his unwavering willingness to put others before himself. When his elder brothers immigrated to the United States, he remained in Taiwan to lovingly care for their mother. His family meant everything to him, and he always put their needs before his own.
James was always an academic at heart. He loved engaging in lively discussions and debates but never looked to provoke a fight or argument. James was also a traveler and an avid learner. He loved exploring both new and historic places, and learning about different cultures. He will be remembered for his passion for life, his kindness, and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He was a gentleman and will be remembered for his kindness and generosity of spirit.
James spent most of his career working for the US Postal Service, where he was a dedicated employee for nearly 35 years until his retirement in 2017. He was respected by his colleagues and admired for his strong work ethic and commitment to the job.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Hsi-Mei Yang (楊希枚) and Hsiou-Ying Wu (楊吴秀英), as well as his eldest brother, Patrick Yang (楊月蓀). He is survived by his two brothers, Ning-Sun Yang (楊寜蓀) and Mei-Sun Yang (楊梅蓀), his stepsisters Julie and Qian, and his three children, Clement, Cathin, and Jonathan.
James will be laid to rest next to the Fountain of Remembrance at Finley Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 6801 SW Sunset HWY, Portland, OR 97225.
