James D. Lambert (Pipe) who preferred the name J.D. was born on August 18, 1935, in Longview Arkansas to Marvin Lee Lambert and Everline Lambert, he was the 2nd of 13 born to this union.
J.D. attended Lacey Elementary in Lacey, Arkansas and Drew High School in Monticello, Arkansas. During those years segregation was still enforced and he shared many stories with his family about the adversities he faced as a result.
After the death of his father, he along with his older brother Perry, took on the role of helping raise his younger siblings as well as tending to the family crops and farm.
J.D. knew he wanted a chance at a better life, so he made the decision to step out on faith and travel north to Portland, Oregon, following in his older brother Perry's footsteps.
J.D. was a hardworking man and believed in making an honest living to provide for his family, he worked for ABM Janitorial Services, KGW, and Western Electric before beginning his (25) year career at Precision Castparts where he retired in 2001 as a Supervisor.
J.D. had a love for all sports, he coached little league baseball for over 15 years and made sure that all of his children participated in sports as adolescents. He was an avid fisherman who taught all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how to fish at an early age and made it a family ritual to take fishing trips for his birthday each year.
J.D. was a great storyteller, his family loved hearing stories from his past even if they heard them a million times. He loved conversation, if you ever took a trip with him to his neighborhood store Safeway you were a witness. He knew everyone, and everyone knew him, he was stopped on each aisle for conversation. He was loved and respected by many.
J.D., The Lambert Patriarch was all about family, he was instrumental in orchestrating the Lambert-Jacobs Family Reunion Picnics. He instilled in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the importance of family and the Lambert Legacy. After his death his great grandson Kenshsawn, whom he raised as his own, legally changed his last name to Lambert in honor of his grandfather and to make sure the last name will carry on for many generations to come.
