Harold Arthur Gunderson was born on January 5, 1929 in Portland, Oregon. He was raised by his mother and Auntie Mia after his dad was killed in a boating accident when Harold was not yet 2. He attended Ockley Green Elementary School and Jefferson High School. While in high school, Harold met the love of his life, Dolores.
Harold enlisted in the US Navy in the fall of 1946 during his senior year. He was stationed in Guam until the end of 1949. Harold and Dolores were married on October 28, 1950. Shortly after their marriage Harold was called back into the Navy and stationed in the Aleutian Islands. In November 1951 he was Honorably Discharged from the Navy and returned to Portland.
Harold and his beloved wife, Dolores, made their life in Portland except for 2 short times living near Seattle. In May of 1952, they welcomed daughter, Christine into the world and in August of 1954, they welcomed their son Glen to complete their family. After a few minor sales positions around Portland and Seattle, Harold went to work for Familian NW as the Sales Manager where he worked for 35 years, and retiring in August of 1993.
He and Dolores loved to travel! They loved sharing these trips and memories with family and friends.
He loved his family dearly and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed golf, fly fishing, snorkeling in Hawaii, visiting casinos once in a while and a glass of gin on occasions.
Harold was welcomed into Heaven on May 7, 2023 by his beloved wife, Dolores, of almost 72 years, his father (Peter), mother (Dagmar Johnson), many family members, countless lifelong friends, and his many beloved pets.
