Harold was married to his wife, Rosemary, for 51 years and will be remembered for his passionate love of family, faithful dogs, food and Canadian whiskey-not always necessarily in that order. He graduated from Lake Oswego High School in 1959 being forever a proud Laker participating in baseball, track and cross country. He served 2 years in the Army Corp of Engineers followed by 40 years in construction at Portland Road and Driveway.
Newport, OR became Rosemary and Hal’s home away from home where many wonderful memories were created with family and friends. He was an extremely proud grandfather never missing the opportunity to brag about the academic and sports accomplishments of his grandsons. He has instilled in them the importance of being a LA Dodgers fan. A meticulous craftsman, Hal spent many hours remodeling his home and landscaping his yard which was his source of pride.
Hal’s friendly and outgoing nature drew conversations with everyone. His knowledge of history made him a formidable trivia opponent. Many state programs are thankful that he was one of the earliest and most frequent investors in the Oregon Lottery.
We will dearly miss him and he’ll be forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary, daughter Julie Peck (Nigel), son David Baker (Jeannie) and grandsons, Alexander and Zachary.
A celebration of life gathering will be planned in the spring 2024 at George Roger’s Park-Lake Oswego. Details will be announced at that time.
Family suggests remembrances be made to NOAA- Newport Research Station www.fisheries.noaa.gov and Tualatin National Wildlife Refuge.
