July 15, 1930 -December 11, 2024
The gentle spirit of Grace Elizabeth Peters left this world as the sun rose on Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024. She carries with her the everlasting love of those who were blessed to know her during her 94 wonderful years.
Born on July 15, 1930, to Paul and Nancy (Grimm) Pandolph in Normalville, Pennsylvania, Grace was the second of seven children. As a little girl, she found joy in simple moments—sitting on the porch swing with her grandfather, roller skating with girlfriends, and sharing homemade spaghetti with her Italian family on Sunday evenings.
Grace attended school in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, where she met Alvin Peters and graduated in 1949. After high school Alvin joined the Navy. Despite the distance, their love only grew stronger, and they were married in 1951, while Alvin was home on leave.
In the fall of 1955, they welcomed their beloved son Mark, completing their family. Together, they made homes in Yuma, Arizona; Englewood, California; and eventually Milwaukie, Oregon, in 1968, where Grace would live for the rest of her life.
As a devoted wife, mother, teacher at Oak Grove Day School, and grandmother, Grace was a constant source of warmth and tenderness. Whether singing lullabies in a rocking chair, playing card games, snapping green beans on the back porch, or soothing mosquito bites with chamomile lotion, her loving touch and unwavering devotion will forever live in the hearts of her grandchildren.
Grace had a deep love for gardening, pouring love and care into everything she grew. Whether she was watering her plants on a warm summer day, feeding the birds beneath the towering sequoia, or picking fresh berries from the vine, her garden brought her peace, fulfillment, and joy.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and grace will continue to shine through those who were fortunate enough to know her.
