

George Charles Brune, 85, passed away August 14, 2014 in Portland, Oregon. He was born in The Dalles on July 30, 1929, the son of Charles H Brune, and Elizabeth Mills Harriman. George graduated from The Dalles High School (’48), University of Portland (’54), and received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Portland State University (’74).
As a marriage and family therapist for Multnomah County Court of Domestic Relations, George pioneered divorce mediation. He had a love for Native American culture and cherished time spent at Celilo. For the last 14 years of his life, Mona Brock was his constant companion. They shared interests of historical Oregon, dancing, community service, and were active in Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers and the Elks. He also enjoyed gardening and jazz.
Married to Audrey Ellen Wilson for 29 years, George is survived by his children, Tonya Batman (PA), John R Brune (WA), Tamara Brune-Wharton (UT), Duff C Brune (MN), Gina Roberts (TX), and nephews, Brent and Blake Brune, 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by Audrey, his son Scott K Brune and his brothers, Jack and Charles Brune.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21st, at 1pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, OR. Visitation will be at noon with a private burial following. Contributions in memory of George may be made to Running Strong for American Indian Youth, 8301 Richmond Hwy, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22309.
