The celebration of life or Fred's party he requested will be held at his daughter Laura's following his service at the church.
Fred was born in Portland, Oregon on June 2nd, 1947. Dad grew up in lower SE Portland, Oregon with his mother, Hazel and father, Wayne. Fred went to Brooklynn Elementary, and Cleveland High School in Portland. He played the trumpet in band and, from the stories he told, had a fun and wild youth, getting into all kinds of innocent mischief. Fred was the oldest of four boys; following him were his brothers, Frank, Darrell and Clifford.
Fred met Barbara Lawrie in 1975 through mutual friends, and it was love at first sight. Fred and Barbara went to a lot of movies, drive-in eateries, and enjoyed cruising in his hot rods together. Their relationship progressed fast, and they moved in together almost immediately. Fred became an immediate father figure to Barbara's two young girls, Kimberly, who was six years old at the time, and Kelli, who was four years old. Almost two years exactly later, his daughter Laura was born.
Fred worked as a long-haul truck driver, and also worked as a security officer. Fred was always a night owl; he wasn’t one who liked authority while working (just ask any of his bosses), so he preferred jobs where he was left alone.
Fred is survived by his biological daughter Laura (47yrs) and two adopted daughters, Kimberly (57) and Kelli (55), his brothers; Franklin Unverrich and Clifford Unverrich; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other assorted family; and many caring friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Unverrich & Hazel Unverrich; brother, Darrell Unverrich; and the love of his life, Barbara Lawrie.
Fred was a loving, dedicated, playful, strong and stubborn soul and will be missed and remembered by many lives he touched. His family hopes he his riding his dream Harley through the heavenly golden gates and playing on the blissful clouds with the animals who passed before him.
If you would like to help out in any way, please consider giving to one of Fred's favorite charities, The Oregon Humane Society. (oregonhumane.org)
