Marion Joan and David “Jim” James Fenwick welcomed their only child, Elizabeth “Libby” Joan to their Tongue Point, Oregon, home on May 29, 1951. They moved to Portland, Oregon soon after. Despite being told by doctors to put her in an institution, Jim and Marion kept their beloved daughter with them for as long as they could. After Jim’s passing, Marion found she could no longer physically help Libby so the teen went to live in a lovingly chosen care home.
Libby’s huge smile, giant belly laugh and frequent “I love you!” couldn’t help but brighten your day. She enjoyed watching, and singing along with, The Lawrence Welk show. In fact, she just loved to sing! Jesus Loves Me, the ABC Song and You Are My Sunshine were her favorites. Looking through glossy “ladies magazines”, repeatedly stringing the wooden beads she kept in baskets, and wearing “a dress like a lady” brought her joy, as did balloons, eating noodles, Cheetos Puffs and anything red and sparkly. She also loved spending time with her long-time boyfriend, Greg.
The world lost the bright light that was Libby on September 18, 2022. She is now dancing and singing in Heaven with her parents and her Lord, Jesus Christ. Libby is missed by her cousin, Julie Noakes and Julie’s husband, Dan, her boyfriend Greg, her devoted care givers and all of the friends that she has made.
Libby was, indeed, our sunshine!
