Charles Jia Zhi Young

His parents, Mr. Yang Zhu Min and Mrs. Zhou Bao Lin, were both natives of

Shanghai, P.R. China. Charles's mother was a housewife, and his father was a businessman. He had seven siblings.

After graduating from Zhejiang University, Charles became part of the teaching faculty at Fudan University in Shanghai. In 1966, he married Ms. Deng Wen Eng (Grace Young). During their 46 years of marriage, they raised two sons, David and Roger. They also welcomed into the family two daughters-in-law, Amy Zhou and Li Xu; two grandsons, Jason and Justin; and two granddaughters, Joy and Jade.

In 1984, Charles and Grace immigrated to the U.S. with their two young boys.

They faced many challenges in their new environment and worked tirelessly to overcome difficulties, keeping the family together and thriving.

Charles loved singing old American classics, photographing, telling stories, and enjoying good food. He also loved to keep himself occupied by tidying up a place.

His family and friends knew him as a kind, sincere man, loving husband, and dedicated father and grandfather.

Charles lived a fulfilling and healthy life until a few years ago when he developed dementia, which caused him to lose cognitive abilities and memory. For the past two years, he collaborated with doctors, caretakers, and family members with the hope of improving. Unfortunately, he passed due to contracting pneumonia. The process was quick and peaceful, and he suffered minimal pain toward the end of his life.

He was taken by the Lord on July 18, 2024, and is now in our Father's arms forever.

A funeral service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home

Chapel on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 1 pm.

Charles will be privately laid to eternal rest beside his wife Grace at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, St. Clare Chapel, in Los Altos, California.

杨嘉执（Charles）先生于1929年4月21日出生在上海。

他的父母，杨志民先生和周宝琳女士，都是中国上海人。Charles的母亲是一位家庭主妇，他的父亲是一位商人。他有七个兄弟姐妹。

从浙江大学毕业后，Charles成为上海复旦大学的教员。1966年，他与邓文恩（Grace Young）女士结婚。在他们46年的婚姻中，他们养育了两个儿子，David和Roger。他们还迎来了两个儿媳妇，Amy和徐丽；两个孙子，Jason和Justin；以及两个孙女，Joy和Jade。

1984年，Charles和Grace带着两个年幼的儿子移民到美国。他们在新的环境中面临许多挑战，并努力克服困难，保持家庭的团结和兴旺。

Charles喜欢唱老的美国经典歌曲，拍照，讲故事，和享受美食。他也喜欢忙于整理环境。家人和朋友们都知道他是一个善良和真诚的人，一个慈爱的丈夫和敬业的父亲。

Charles过着高质量和健康的生活，直到几年前他患上了痴呆症，导致他失去了认知能力和记忆。在过去的两年里，他与医生、护理人员和家人一起努力，希望能有所改善。不幸的是，他在与痴呆症斗争了两年后患上了吸入性肺炎。这个过程很快且平静，他在生命的最后阶段几乎没有痛苦。

2024年7月18日，他被主接走，现在永远在天父的怀抱中。葬礼将在2024年8月3日星期六下午1点在天际纪念花园和殡仪馆礼拜堂举行。

Charles将私下安葬在加利福尼亚州洛斯阿尔托斯的天堂门天主教墓地的圣克莱尔教堂，永远与他的妻子Grace为伴。
