Charles Alva Wiren

Born on April 18, 1946, in Portland, Oregon. Chuck grew up with a strong sense of community and purpose. He answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Navy as part of the submarine service. His time in the Navy exemplified his dedication and courage. Following his military service, he earned an associate degree in Engineering from Portland Community College.

On April 22, 1967, Chuck married Dorothy Mae Brown after being introduced by her brother Dave. Their union of 57 years was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together they built a life centered on faith, and family, and shared adventures that enriched the lives of all who knew them.

Chuck’s professional career reflected his commitment to excellence and hard work. He began as an engineer working in various mills across Oregon before transitioning to a role with the City of Portland in 1984. Over the course of his career, he earned multiple industry awards for his expertise and dedication before retiring in 2004.

A man of deep faith and unwavering devotion to God, Chuck was an active member of West Hills Baptist Church in Portland. As a cherished Deacon within the congregation, he touched countless lives through his service and spiritual guidance. His faith was not only evident in his church involvement but also in how he lived each day—with kindness, humility, and love for others.

Chuck possessed many talents and passions that brought joy to both himself and those around him. He was skilled in woodworking, auto repair, home maintenance, hiking, hunting, fishing—and above all else—spending time with his family. Known for his fun-loving spirit and gentle kindness, he had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated.

He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy Mae Wiren; his children: Charles A. Wiren Jr. (Cal), Lee K. Wiren, Jeffry D. Wiren (Jeff), Danielle M. McCormick, and Heidi K.B. Seaver; his grandchildren: Austin Wiren, Sevanna Wiren, Rhiley Claeys, Khyle Claeys, Tesah Noteboom, Cameron James, Charla James, Chandler James, Benjamin Wiren, Josephine Rogers, and Matthew Wiren; as well as his great-grandchildren: Andrew Wiren and Leonidas Rogers—with Lucille Rogers expected soon.

Chuck’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. His legacy of love and faith serves as an enduring inspiration to all who shared in his life’s journey. May he rest peacefully in God’s eternal embrace until we meet again.
