She was born Carolyn Luella Van Camp in Kingman, KS to her parents Vernon and Vivian a little more than 89 years ago. She was raised primarily in Lexington, MO, graduated from High School there and married Robert Paris shortly thereafter. He joined the Marines and that took the couple to San Diego, CA for two years before they returned to Columbia, MO, where her husband attended the University of Missouri and Carolyn worked to help put him through school. Over the next twenty years they made homes in Independence and Raytown, MO, Chicago, IL and Burnsville, MN. The family finally settled in Beaverton, OR in 1975 and Carolyn remained there for the rest of her life. After divorcing, she was employed by Damerow Ford in Beaverton for many years. She married William Wellman in 1982 and they were happily married for 25 years until his passing in 2007. They were both active members of the Cedar Hills Baptist church and they spent many hours travelling, gardening, square dancing, volunteering and enjoying the company of their dogs and grandchildren.
Her parents and siblings Verle and Donald Van Camp, Jean Shrader, Dorothy Beggs and her stepson John Wellman, all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Ryan Paris (Suzanne), Terri Castellano (Joe), Pamela Rose and Brad Paris (Kelly). Her grandchildren include Steven and Robert Castellano, Lucas, Garrett, Jessica, Molly and Aaron Paris, Martin and Matthew Evans and Samuel Rose. Her three great granddaughters are Cassidy, Maceline and Olive May Evans.
Carolyn never put herself first, was habitually kind to all and never failed to provide unequivocal support for those in need – especially her family. She was an amazing person loved by all and she will be sorely missed. A private service for immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.skylinememorialgardens.com for the Wellman family.
