She was the first child born to George and Gladys Adams and attended South St. Paul High School.
Later, she met James (Jim) Walter O'Malley through his cousin. They discovered a mutual love of dancing and were married on October 15, 1949. Together, they raised five children: Cathy, Tim, Tom, Larry, and Maureen.
Audrey and Jim were members of the Catholic Church and the Ancient Order of Hibernians, which led them to travel throughout the United States and to Ireland. In 1973, Jim and Audrey moved to Portland, Oregon, followed by a job transfer to Fresno, California, in 1976. They returned to Portland in 1988, where they lived until Jim retired. They then became "snowbirds," traveling south each winter and enjoying many years of RV travel. Their love of travel took them on numerous cruises and family road trips with their children and grandchildren.
During her time in Fresno, Audrey discovered a love of oil painting, for which she won several awards. She enjoyed making homemade cards and Christmas favors for her family and friends. Her paintings are cherished by her loved ones and displayed in their homes.
Jim passed away in 2006. Audrey later married Jack Hickey, who shared her love of travel. In her later years, Audrey enjoyed spending time with her family, especially playing cards.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husbands, James W. O'Malley and John (Jack) Hickey; her son, Thomas O'Malley (Theresa); her parents, George and Gladys Adams; her sister, Sr. Mary Jude (Patricia Adams); and her brother, George Raymond Adams.
She is survived by her children: Catherine O'Malley, Timothy O'Malley, Lawrence O'Malley (Lisa), and Maureen Story (Alan); as well as 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 18th at 11:00 am. Audrey will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Happy Valley, OR 97086, next to her beloved husband, James Walter O'Malley.
