He was a lifelong resident of the Central Maine area and spent many winters in Dunnellon, Florida.
At age 17, he started working in the custom auto upholstery industry, then later built his own business, Norm’s Auto Tops, where he worked passionately until the day he died. His son, Normand gave him the nickname Master Stitcher and his family and friends considered him the Best Upholsterer on the East Coast. At the age of 18, he also served as a tanker in the U.S. Army National Guard.
Normand was devoted to ministry and was involved with Gideons International, placing and distributing Bibles for over 30 years. He was an active member and served as a deacon and elder at South Lewiston Baptist Church in Maine. He also attended First Baptist Church Dunnellon in Florida, where he fellowshipped with his second church family.
Normand is survived by his wife, Marilyn, who he recently celebrated 40 years of marriage with. He is predeceased by his parents, Donat and Edna and his siblings, Connie, Pierre, Girard, and Richard. He leaves behind his brother Edward; his children, Normand (Deborah), Donna (Tom), Sharon (Dan), John (Nancy), and Ann; bonus children, Tammie (Michael), Darlene, Randy (Dawn), Vicki (David). In addition, 26 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Normand was not just a man of work and service, but also a man of heart. His friendly, giving, caring, and humble nature endeared him to all who knew him. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially over a meal and gathering around a table to play games and cards.
The family will receive friends at South Lewiston Baptist Church, 1919 Lisbon Rd Lewiston, Maine from 10:00-11:00am on September 7th. The Memorial Service will be at 11am with a luncheon to follow.
