Born January 21, 1945 in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of Dexter and Virginia (Lewis) McCausland. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Tudor, who suddenly passed away from a Brain Aneurysm in 2008.
Nancy was a graduate of Deering High School and earned her BS in Education from the University of Maine. She taught elementary grades in both Bar Harbor and Calais before moving back to Portland, where she worked for her father’s printing business, Portland Lithograph. After daughter Kim went to college, Nancy began a 20 year career as an Ed Tech / Librarian with the Portland School system, retiring in 2015. For more than ten years, she also worked Saturdays as a receptionist at the Park Danforth in Portland.
Nancy’s deep love for her daughter was clearly shown by her attendance at hundreds of Kim’s softball games, their numerous trips together to New York City and Florida, her care for Kim’s dog, Bella, her steadfast support for the Red Sox, and her commitment to preserving Kim’s memory with her active involvement in the Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness Committee and its annual KAT-Walk, named in Kim’s honor.
Nancy is survived by her brother David L. McCausland and sister-in-law Heidi and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We are comforted by knowing Nancy is now re-united with Kimmy.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, October 29th, at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodfords Street, Portland, ME. 5:00pm – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to: Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness, 799 Wings Mills Road, Mount Vernon, ME 04352 or at MaineBA.org
