Lawrence Nathan Stoddard, Sr. of Scarborough died Wednesday, October 9, 2024, after a brief illness. Born in Portland, Maine on April 7, 1944, to Ray and Margaret (Esposito) Stoddard, Larry grew up on Munjoy Hill where he enjoyed lobstering with his dad, adventuring, and running track. After he graduated from Portland High School, he joined the Navy and served 3 years. Outside of tile design and installation, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building his LEGO collection in retirement. His biggest passion was cooking, where he hosted 'cookie days' for family and friends.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, sister Theresa R. Walsh, brother Richard Stoddard, and brother Raymond Stoddard.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years Kathryn L. (Fairbrother) Stoddard; daughters Kimberley Stoddard of Westbrook and Stephanie Stoddard and partner Marita Leach of Standish; son Larry Stoddard, Jr. and wife Claudia of Alfred and their children.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1pm at New Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
