In the early morning of October 12th, 2023, Jennifer T. Muller passed away peacefully with her husband and son by her side at Northern Lights Mercy Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 67 years old.
Born in Boston to Wilfred J. Brown Jr. and Jeanne (Cooke) Brown, Jennifer grew up in Long Island, New York and Holden, Massachusetts. After graduating high school and completing a semester at UMASS, Jennifer chose to work and travel around the country, spending several years in various locales, including Seattle, WA, Ketchum, ID, Martha’s Vineyard, and Bethlehem, NH, before ultimately settling in Portland, attending the University of Southern Maine in 1982. While completing her degree in Criminology Jennifer waitressed at the Snow Squall restaurant in South Portland, where she met Bill waiting tables, and with whom she enjoyed hiking, skiing, tennis, and dancing. Eventually, Bill joined her in her home on Sullivan St. in Portland (aka the House of Love), along with several roommates. Bill and Jennifer married in 1987, and Jennifer found work at L.L.Bean, where she worked for 11 years. When she became pregnant, the couple sold their beloved house on the water, and moved to a larger home in Falmouth. During the summer of 1997, while pregnant, Jennifer took up golf, which became one of her passions. When Zachary was born in January of 1998, she decided to not go back to L.L.Bean and became a full-time homemaker.
Having worked in numerous restaurants in many capacities, Jennifer was an excellent cook, and enjoyed entertaining, providing delicious meals for friends and family, both at home and at the Sugarloaf ski condo. In the winter, you could find her skiing, but the rest of the year, she loved golf. Jennifer was willing to play in almost any conditions including cold and snow on a recent trip to Scotland. She also possessed a love of the ocean and fishing, captaining a scalloping boat during her stint in Martha’s Vineyard, and always searching for an opportunity to cast a lure in a body of water. Her greatest love of all was her family, making a lovely home for Bill and her beloved son Zach, and often visiting and hosting her mother, Jeanne.
Jennifer is predeceased by her father, Wilfred J. Brown Jr.
She is survived by her mother Jeanne (Cooke) Brown of Osprey, FL, her husband William F. Muller and son Zachary D. Muller of Falmouth, ME, her brother Douglas D. Brown of Westport, CT and her sister and brother-in-law Alison J. (Brown) McGrath and Michael A. McGrath of Tewksbury, MA, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
