Jason was born on January 19, 1983 to Paul Wilmot and Vickie Wilmot Darling in Portland, Maine. He graduated from South Portland High School in 2001. He earned Varsity letters in ice hockey and soccer.
While attending Southern Maine Community College, Jason kickstarted a 22-year career at the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department as the youngest Correctional Officer to be hired at the age of 18. He worked his way up from Correctional Officer to Lieutenant while earning several awards and honors, including Supervisor of the Year. He also fought for his peers as Shop Steward in Teamsters Local Union No. 340. He was truly a leadership prodigy.
Jason met Holly Jolin in 2004 and spent as much time as he could building a long lasting foundation that lead to them marrying in St. Lucia on June 29, 2006. With their journey officially started, they went on to have two wonderful children, taking every moment to enjoy life together.
He was loved by everyone and had a keen sense of humor. Jason advocated for others through his union leadership role and maintained a strong sense of duty. He spent his time as an outdoorsman and had a passion for Sunday sports, attending whenever he could. He was steadfastly supportive, solution-focused, and a creative thinker which earned him the title "baby genius". Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
