David Andrew Rinaldi, age 48, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning September 15, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a brief illness with his family by his side.
David was born in Portland the son of Sammy and Joyce Rinaldi where he attended local schools graduating from Portland High School class of 1985.
David was employed at Wilsons Leather Outlet in Kittery until his illness. He previously was a resident of Lawrence, Mass where he was active in local animal rescue organizations.
David was known for his kindness, and a gentle soul who loved art, music and cars. His biggest asset was the love that he shared with everyone without exception. He would greet you with a big hug and ask how are you were doing. Even during his hospitalization facing a terminal disease he volunteered to participate in a study, undergoing extensive tests so that he might help others facing the same illness.
He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Alfonso and Brigida Rinaldi, and his maternal grandmother, Bernice Devou.
Besides his parents of South Portland, he leaves his brother, Samuele and his wife Lynn Rinaldi of Scarborough, two sisters, Rebecca Rinaldi of Yarmouth, Tracy Rinaldi of South Portland, 2 nieces, Sarah and Jessica Rinaldi both of Scarborough, his beloved pets, Chloe and Louie, and survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A time of visitation will be held Friday September 18, 2015 from 4 to 8PM at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday September 19, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St, Portland. Interment will follow in the family lot in New Calvary Cemetery, So. Portland. A reception will follow at Msgr. Domingo Hall at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.
