Voida Sybil Samuel (nee Friday) was born to Norman and Melvina Friday(Peters) on November 21, 1926 in Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She was the last of five children, with three sisters and one brother.
She attended Bequia Anglican School and immigrated to Trinidad and Tobago about 1956 where she lived before moving to St. Croix and finally to the United States of America in the mid sixties.
She was employed at a nursing home in Spring Valley, New York where she worked until she retired and settled in Port St Lucie, Florida.
She was married to John Samuel who died several years ago. She outlived all her siblings except for the oldest who died six weeks prior to her 99th birthday.
She had family members who held significant positions, her nephew is Bishop of the Windward Islands and her cousin is a leader of the opposition in St Vincent and The Grenadines.
Voida has left several nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many friends who will in some way mourn her passing.
May her soul find eternal rest in the bosom of her creator God.
A visitation for Voida will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Family Church of Port St Lucie, 115 NE Solida Drive, Port St Lucie, FL 34983. A funeral service will follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00PM. A graveside service will then be held from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at White City Cemetery, 3800 Sunrise Blvd, Fort Pierce, FL 34982.
