I feel honored to have worked with Marie.  She was such a devoted teacher who was always willing to share her ideas with others.  I am blessed to have known her and will think of her often, especially when I am teaching science.

Thank you all for the kind words. I know my husband (Joe) and my brother-in-law (John) appreciate all the kindness, love and support. Please also know there will be a viewing from 2:45 to 3:15 on Friday as well prior to the service beginning at Aycock at 3:30pm. Both the viewing and service will be held at Aycock on August 31.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your mother, Marie.  She was a kind, soft spoken lady who will be missed.  I am sad to know that she will not be able to enjoy the retirement she earned after teaching for soo many years, but, I know that she is reunited with her husband/your dad. Joe and John, your mother was a great friend to have in our kid years when I knew her.  She was always so kind and welcoming of all the karate kids to your home.   Her smile and warmth are still remembered to this day.  She raised two fine men who have done well in life and take on life with full gusto and splendid personalities.  I believe she succeeded in one of life's hardest tasks in keeping you two in line.   She's there with your dad now, standing in the arms of our great Father.   The Balchunas torches are now passed onto both of you and your families.  Share the same sense of pride in family that your parents both had.  They loved you both very much.  Peace and love to you and your families.  May she rest in peace.

My heart aches for your family during this sad time. Your mother was a kind & beautiful person who had a smile for everyone.She will be truly missed. Joe & John, not only did WE grow up together, but our moms worked together in the St.Lucie school system for many years. My parents send their deepest condolences as well. I know she & your Dad are smiling down on the fine men they raised.

Marie was a wonderful mentor to me in my first year of teaching. She was always there to give me a pat on the shoulder and a kind word of advice. I don't know how I could have gotten through that year without her. I will never forget her generosity and her beautiful smile.

Dear Joe,Bree , John and Jenn,, Mom was a great lady and she loved her family very much. for the short time that Mary and I hav known her she was a big part of our Family.
