Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joyce Freake Hardiman, age 85 years, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, announces her passing at Palm Gardens of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, November 4, 2020
Preceded in death by her devoted husband Lawrence, daughter Sue, brothers Harvey, Gordon, sisters Ina, Rita, Stella, Charlotte and Mary.
Joyce was the youngest of 9 children, born December 19, 1934 to Obed & Elizabeth Freake, Boyd’s Cove NL. She met Larry Hardiman, who was in the US Air Force stationed in Gander while working at the Gander Airport, NL. They were married 55 years before his passing, January 5, 2009.
Survivors include her son, Lawrence O. Hardiman and wife Diane of Port Saint Lucie, FL; daughter, Deborah Haun and husband Daniel of Columbia, SC, Allen Heine, son-in-law of Dunnellon, FL; brother, Donald Freake of Boyd’s Cove NL, sister-in-law Irene Ledford and husband Emory of Harrisburg, Indiana; six grandchildren; Daniel, Amanda, David, Stephen, Tyler and David with wife Heather and great-grand son Asher as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
Joyce enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir and cooking for everyone. She enjoyed her family and friends, always opened her home for visitors near and far, and loved sharing stories of the ways of her homeland, Newfoundland.
Funeral Service will be held on November 15, 2020 at 3:00pm at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 Southeast Floresta Drive, Port Saint Lucie, FL.
Committal Service will be held on November 16, 2020 at 12:30pm at The Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave. Bushnell, FL.
