John David Parsons, 87, died July 2, 2011, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Florida. He was born in Tipp City, OH. Before moving to Port St. Lucie, FL in 1985 he and his family resided in Springfield, OH. He served in the United States Army during WWII where he received a Purple Heart for his service. He was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and received his Master of Education degree from Wittenberg University. He was a Mathematics teacher at Roosevelt Jr. High School and at Northeastern H.S. before becoming an administrative assistant at Kenton Ridge H.S. He retired in 1983. He was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Pythia. He was an avid golfer and bowler. While in Florida he also became a Master Gardner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois,of 56 years in 2009, his sister Maribel, and his parents - John and Ruth(Leopard) Parsons of Tipp City. Survivors include his children Christine(Leamon)Varn of Jacksonville, Lisa Parsons of Springfield, Jody Heskett of Springfield, Jon Parsons of Port St. Lucie, Connie(Jim)Ruffing of Greer, SC and Todd(Donna) Parsons of Havelock,NC. Grandchildren include Eric (Kristie) Weckesser, Matt Bailey, Christopher(Jennifer Smith, Erin Murphy, Andy Heskett, Tyler Heskett, Kalen Ruffing, Preston Ruffing, Carson Ruffing and 2 great grandchildren Tyler Weckesser and Amielia Smith. A memorial service was held in Port St. Lucie. Graveside services will be conducted at Maplehill Cemetery in Tipp City, Ohio on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00AM. After the Service, please join us for a luncheon at Harrison’s in Tipp City.
