On January 7th 2023, Jeanne Alberta (Dildine) Stafford, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at home at the age of 80.
Jeanne was born in Elmira Heights, New York to Leo and Mary (Sopp) Dildine. She graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in Elmira Heights, New York. On July 23, 1960 she married Edward Stafford. They raised a son, Vincent and a daughter, Kimberley.
Upon graduation, Jeanne worked for many years at the Bell Telephone Company in Elmira New York as a switchboard operator. Jeanne was a homemaker, raising two children and relocating nine times as her husband was in the retail store business. Later, Jeanne joined the retail business and worked in stores in multiple states. After retiring, Jeanne volunteered for the American Red Cross and at the Cleveland Clinic at Tradition in Port St. Lucie Florida. She also crocheted countless baby blankets for babies in the NICU at Cleveland Clinic and, upon request, for people battling cancer.
Jeanne was a competent runner as she competed in 5K’s, 10K’s, and a full 26.2 mile marathon in Duluth Minnesota.
After the family relocated to Green Bay Wisconsin, Jeanne became a lifetime Packer fan and especially enjoyed game days with brats, beer, and surrounded by family cheering GO PACK GO!
Jeanne has one grandson, Grayson, who is the apple of her eye. As a young boy, they had weekly ritual visits which included craft projects, bowling, swimming, a lunch trip to McDonalds or corn dogs at home. Their time together was precious and created memories that Grayson treasures.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her son Vincent Edward Stafford, father Leo, mother Mary, brothers Louis and Alan Dildine, Sister-in-Law Betty Dildine, Brother-in-Law Thomas Sorensen, Brother-in-Law James Valentine, and Son-in-Law Gerry Waugh.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 62 years Edward Stafford, daughter Kimberly (Stafford) Waugh, grandson Grayson Waugh, sister Annette (Dildine) Valentine, Sister- and Brother-in-Law Barbara (Stafford) Singerhoff and Jim Singerhoff, Sister-in-Law Sylvia (Brown) Sorensen, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Treasure Coast Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
