Age 73
James (Jim) went home to be with the Lord on November 19, 2020.
Jim was from Trenton, New Jersey born and bred, and that is where his heart remained.
He was predeceased by his mother, Norma Comfort Jeannette; father, Warren Comfort;
grand parents Alice and Philip French; mother-in-law Jennie McGuire; cousins-in-law Lucille and Maurice and Jack Bransfield; cousin Donald Comfort and beloved son James Dana Comfort.
He is survived by his adored daughter, Aimee Elise Comfort and Priscilla, with whom he resided in Port Saint Lucie, Florida; his sister Kathleen Comfort Walker; nephew Michael Walker and niece Diana Walker of Trenton; his grandson Matthew and great-grandson Matthew Flynn of Seaville, NJ; his cousins Charles (June) and Joe (Norma) Comfort of Hobe Sound, FL; Rick (Karen) Comfort of Cherry Grove, SC; Shawna Bransfield; Ashley (Pete), Ava, Peter IV and Jack DeMato of Myrtle Beach, SC; godson William Bransfield (Michele) and his daughters Alexandria and Samantha of Bradenton, FL; his life-long friend Nick Maisto (Debbie) and family of Yardley, PA and other family and friends from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. He also leaves behind his daily companion, Aries the maltese.
Jim grew up and played sports in Chambersburg, graduating from St Anthony High School and attended Mercer Community College. He volunteered for the regular Army from 1966-1969 serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War, earning four medals and promoted to Sargent. He worked at the Atlantic City Golden Nugget / Bally's Grand Casino Hotel for 25 years. He retired from the New Jersey State Police as a security officer. He was a member of the Young-at-Heart Group of the St. Peter Church in Jupiter, Florida and was recently among those US veterans honored by the city of Port Saint Lucie.
Services will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Dr, Port Saint Lucie, FL 34983 on December 16, 2020 at 11:00am, under the direction of Deacon Charles Immordino of St. Lucie Catholic Church in accordance with COVID-19 requirements.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Trenton, NJ at a later date in accordance with COVID-19 travel restrictions. The Date will be posted in the Trenton Times.
