It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eric Rainey, a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Born on July 5, 1975, in Miami, Florida, Eric was a vibrant soul whose life was marked by creativity, generosity, and an unwavering love for his family and friends. He lived his life with a deep appreciation for art, music, and the connections he shared with those around him.
Eric grew up in Miami, attending St. Lawrence Catholic School and Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School, before earning his bachelor’s degree in English from Florida State University. He later called Hollywood, Florida, home, where he continued his work as a talented web designer. Eric’s career allowed him to merge his artistic talents with technology, and he was known for his creativity and innovation in the digital world, leaving a lasting impact in the field.
For the past 3 1/2 years, Eric fought a courageous battle against cancer. He endured the challenges of the disease with incredible strength and resilience, always pushing forward more for the sake of his family than for himself. His determination to stay strong for his loved ones was a testament to his selflessness and devotion. Throughout his illness, Eric maintained his sense of humor, kindness, and unwavering love for those closest to him.
Beyond his professional achievements and his brave battle with cancer, Eric was a constant source of joy for his family. He shared a special bond with his parents, Gary and Sandy Rainey, and his sister, Amanda Moore, who were always his greatest supporters. His heart overflowed with love for his nephew, Colin Moore, and his niece, Charlotte Moore, and his pride in their accomplishments knew no bounds. Eric was also deeply connected to his extended family, including his aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Eric’s kindness and generosity touched everyone who knew him. He was a patient listener, a caring and dependable friend, and someone who found joy in the little moments—whether it was a simple conversation, a family gathering, or sharing his creative ideas with others. He had a natural ability to make those around him feel seen and valued.
Eric is survived by his parents, Gary and Sandy Rainey; his sister, Amanda Moore; his brother-in-law, Brian Moore; his nephew, Colin Moore; his niece, Charlotte Moore; and his extended family of relatives and friends. While his passing leaves a profound void, his memory will live on in the love and laughter he brought to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, to help support ongoing cancer research and care for patients and their families, in honor of Eric's courageous battle and the many lives touched by cancer.
Rest in peace, Eric. You fought valiantly, and you will be deeply missed. Your legacy of love, creativity, and strength will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing you.
