Eleanor Eriksen

ELEANOR ERIKSEN, 86, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, of Port St. Lucie, passed away on June 27, 2012 at St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, FL. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Donald H. Eriksen, of Pt. St. Lucie, Florida.

She is also survived by her three daughters, Nancy Eriksen, M.D., of Asheville, NC, Janice Eriksen-Manganaro and her husband Lance, of Jensen Beach, FL, and Karen Gonzalez and her husband James of Pembroke Pines, FL; and her three grandchildren David Gonzalez, Christina Gonzalez and Samuel Gonzalez. Survivors also include four nieces, Pam Porter of Pensalcola, FL, Debbie Maclellan of Deltona, FL, Wendy Yunik of Orange City, FL; and Claudia Davis of Chattanooga, TN and brother-in-law, James Lence of Deltona, FL.

Born in Coral Gables, FL, Eleanor was a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL for the past 16 years, moving from Miami, FL after her retirement from Miami-Dade County, where she worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Department Head of Planning & Zoning for 20 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to New England, Alaska and across the U.S.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Howard Heflin, of Coral Gables, FL, and her two wonderful sisters, Ruth Donaldson of Miami, FL and Coral Lence, of Deltona, FL. She enjoyed our family reunions, especially talking with her sister, Coral. She was an exceptionally loving and generous mother and grandmother and her greatest pleasure in life was finding any reason or occasion to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 355, of Port St. Lucie, FL. She also enjoyed volunteering at Martin Memorial Health Systems West and Treasure Coast Hospice.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 7PM-9PM at the Aycock Funeral Home Chapel at 1504 S.E. Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL. A Funeral Service will be Monday, July 2, 2012, 11:00 AM at the Aycock Funeral Home, also at 1504 S.E. Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL, with burial following at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City, FL.
