As written by Big R himself….
"Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Ron enjoyed a most satisfying and rewarding life. He co-oped to Auburn University, while working with U.S. Steel, and later took graduate courses at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He and his wife of 65 years, Peggy, experienced things that few people do. He has seven children: Mark, Traci Titus (Keith), Brian (Becky), Allison Wilson (Steve), Kelly Brant (Dave), Heather Gardner (Steve), and Peggy Finnerty (Shaun). He has 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Ron had one sister, Dr. Bethany McGraham of Birmingham who predeceased him.
Ron, Peggy, and their children lived overseas for two years in Saudi Arabia and Israel, while Ron managed construction projects. They moved to the Port Orange area in 1983, where Ron founded R.A. Scott Construction Company. He enjoyed bass fishing, tennis, yard work, attending Auburn football games and beating Bama.
After retirement, Ron spent most of his time with his grandchildren and traveling the world. Ron and Peggy traveled to 53 countries and 49 states. Ron spent the last three years with Peggy living in John Knox Village in Orange City, FL, and loved it."
