Port Orange, Florida – Richard James Picard, 72, of Port Orange, Florida passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 22, 2013 at Volusia/Flagler Hospice, Edgewater, FL surrounded by his loving wife of 50 years and their daughter.
Born in Freeport, Maine on March 21, 1940, he was the son of the late Lucien and Marie (Tanguay) Picard. Richard grew up in Lewiston, Maine, attended Lewiston schools and joined the Marine Corp in March 1957. He proudly served his country until discharged in 1960. Shortly after returning home he met the love of his life, Lorraine Obie and they married on May 5, 1962.
Richard owned and operated the L&A Bowlers Club (formerly Dick’s Cafe) in Lewiston, ME prior to moving to Deerfield Beach, FL in 1978. In Florida, Richard was a Condo Manager before retiring due to an injury in 1998. In 2008, Richard and his wife moved to their dream retirement community at Crane Lakes in Port Orange, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Lorraine Obie Picard, son Rick Picard of Pompano Beach, FL, daughter Debbie Fox and her husband Jay of Ball Ground, Georgia, and two incredible grandchildren, Kevin & Kyle Fox of Ball Ground, Georgia.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL 32129. A Celebration of Life will be held at Crane Lakes Golf & Country Club, 1850 Crane Lakes Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32128 at 11am on Saturday, January 26, 2013.
