Sabas Lucio Farias, Sr., a U.S. Army Veteran, devoted family man and an avid outdoorsman, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on May 28, 2024. Born in Tivoli, Texas, he spent his life nurturing and caring for his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment.
Sabas was a pillar of strength for his family. His unwavering dedication to their well-being was evident in every gesture, every sacrifice. Whether it was providing for them or offering a listening ear, Sabas was always there. His warm smile and kind heart endeared him to everyone who knew him.
Beyond his family, Sabas found solace in nature. He was an accomplished hunter and fisherman, spending countless hours in the great outdoors. His love for sport was contagious, and he often took his children and grandchildren on memorable hunting and fishing trips, passing down his wisdom and passion.
Sabas is proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Adela de la Garza Farias. They are survived by their children Charlie (Josie), Susie (Arnulfo), Sammy (Maria), and Nelda (Bobby). He also leaves behind over 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his legacy.
Sabas retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co., where he dedicated years of hard work and contributed to the community. Known to his colleagues as Babo, he was a respected loyal friend.
Son of Sabas and Maria Espinosa Farias, Sabas Lucio Farias, Sr. will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for his family. A rosary in his honor will be held at the Tivoli Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 8:30 AM. Following the rosary, a Mass will be celebrated, and Sabas will be laid to rest at the Tivoli Catholic Cemetery. Friends, family, and community members are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the remarkable life of this remarkable man.
