Norma L. Rodriguez, 68, of Port Lavaca, TX, was called to Heaven on October 28, 2021 while surrounded by her family. Norma was born to Delfino and Lucia Ornelas on December 15, 1952 in Laredo, TX. She married Jessie Rodriguez Jr. on July 8, 1971 in Port Lavaca, TX.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Delfino & Lucia Ornelas and her sister, Dora Garcia.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jessie Rodriguez Jr. and her three children: Kristina Hurley (Clint), Jessie Rodriguez III (Kim), and Alyssa Costilla (Aaron). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Elijah & Noah Hurley, Addison & Preston Rodriguez, and Aymreigh & Arian Costilla and 6 siblings: John Ornelas, Gloria Gonzalez, Joe Ornelas, Israel Ornelas, Delfino Ornelas Jr., and Cesar Ornelas.
Norma is a graduate of Calhoun High School. She worked as a Principal’s Secretary for Calhoun County ISD for over 25 years and was a member of the Calhoun County Secretary’s Association. She loved serving others through various organizations including the Lucia Ornelas Foundation and was an active member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Her compassion and giving nature were admired by many.
Norma was a dedicated wife, mother, and Nana who provided unconditional love and support to our family. We would not be where we are today without her as our rock. She will definitely be missed.
Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd from 5-7 pm with a rosary immediately following at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, November 4th at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca with Father Tommy Chen officiating. Burial will follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Isaac Ornelas, Javier Ornelas, Delfino Ornelas III, Dylan Ornelas, Cesar Ornelas Jr., Christian Ornelas, Ruben Garcia Jr., Robert Garcia, and honorary pallbearer Joey Ornelas.
