Stuart was born on January 13, 1946, and was a devoted husband to Janis for 54 years. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and shared adventures. Stuart was the loving father of Kim Manfried and Chris and his wife Michelle. He cherished his role as grandfather to Alexa and Emily Mendel, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom and kindness.
Dear brother to Gale, Cathy, Jon and the late Harvey, and a cherished brother-in-law to Gary Holzer. His extended family and many friends will remember him fondly for his warmth and generosity.
Professionally, Stuart dedicated many years as an electrician for the Long Island Rail Road, where his skills and dedication left an indelible mark. Outside of work, Stuart had a passion for words and intellect, faithfully completing the crossword puzzle every day. He found solace and joy in his garden, where he crafted landscapes that reflected his love for nature and beauty.
Before the pandemic, Stuart and Janis delighted in their travels together, particularly enjoying cruises that allowed them to explore new places and create lasting memories.
Stuart will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering love for his family, and his commitment to his passions. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A visitation for Stuart will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Prayer service on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be private for the family.
